About

About Event Carbon.

Event Carbon was created to bring more clarity, care and credibility to event sustainability.

Events can be beautiful, meaningful and memorable. They bring people together, mark important moments, launch ideas, celebrate progress and create experiences people remember. Alongside that, they can involve travel, venues, catering, materials and logistics that leave a carbon footprint behind.

Event Carbon exists to make event carbon assessment feel clear, considered and credible. It gives clients a thoughtful, well documented way to understand their event footprint and communicate it with care.

Why it matters

Carbon claims are only as strong as the information behind them.

Words like “neutral”, “offset”, “sustainable” and “low impact” can sound reassuring. Without clear event data, defined boundaries and a careful calculation process, a carbon statement can quickly become inaccurate or misleading.

Expectations around environmental claims are becoming more serious. Businesses, venues and event organisers are increasingly expected to show what sits behind sustainability statements, not just use positive language. That means better data, clearer assumptions and more careful communication.

Event Carbon was built around a simple belief: event sustainability should be accessible, structured and credible, giving organisers a clearer way to act responsibly.

Many organisers want to improve the footprint of their event, support credible climate action or make sustainability a thoughtful part of the experience. The challenge is knowing how to do that without overstating the impact or making claims that are not properly supported.

Event Carbon provides the structure and expertise behind that process, turning sustainability intent into defined boundaries, documented evidence and carbon statements organisers can stand behind.

The certificate is the visible part. The value sits in the data, method and thinking behind it.

Meet Sophia

Founder-led and evidence focused.

Event Carbon was founded by Sophia, an Environment and Business graduate with a background in carbon calculation, aerospace, programme governance and sustainability related project work.

Before creating Event Carbon, Sophia worked within the Boeing team in the aerospace sector, supporting complex aviation programmes where evidence, documentation, risk and clear communication were essential.

Her academic background included carbon analysis, environmental reporting and the relationship between business activity and emissions. Her dissertation focused on CO₂ emissions from air travel in response to Covid 19, building an early interest in how emissions are calculated, interpreted and communicated.

Event Carbon is designed to make that process feel clearer, more personal and better evidenced, helping organisers understand the footprint, make informed choices across the event, select a responsible carbon route and share the result with confidence.

  • Environment and Business degree from the University of Leeds
  • Carbon calculation and sustainability reporting experience
  • Event sustainability and carbon offsetting project experience
  • Procurement, supplier data and documentation discipline
  • Governance-led delivery in complex programme environments

Approach

Personal to the event. Grounded in clear evidence.

Every event has a different reason for acting on its carbon footprint. It might be a personal value, a guest experience, a venue offer, a sponsor requirement or part of a wider sustainability strategy.

Event Carbon is built to reflect that. The assessment is shaped around the event itself, while the underlying process stays structured through clear boundaries, careful data review, transparent assumptions and a final record that can be shared with confidence.

In every case, the aim is the same: to make the footprint understandable, the evidence visible and the final statement something organisers can stand behind.
